2018 Sis & Mae Wine Co. Pinot Noir Van Duzer Corridor
2018 Sis & Mae Wine Co. Pinot Noir Van Duzer CorridorThe Van Duzer Corridor is one of Oregon’s newest AVAs. A cool but persistent wind blows through this gap in the Coast Range off of the Pacific Ocean, acting almost as a natural air conditioner to the vineyards this wine is sourced from. This contributes to the ability for us to hang the fruit for a long, cool ripening period in which fruit flavor development is enhanced but acidity is retained. It also creates nice, thick skins which create a substantial structure and body to this wine. In 2018 the conditions really presented themselves to make a fuller, fruitier Pinot Noir. The color is dark and substantial, the fruit is forward, the acidity is bright and cleansing. All the grapes in this blend are grown with organic or biodynamic principles. The wine ferments spontaneously and is carefully watched to keep fermentation active but slow. There were no additions except for a bit of SO2, the wine was not fined or filtered, and the barrels were neutral. We hope this presents to you as pure an expression of this AVA and vintage as possible.
